Take a Girl Child to Work Day
Take a Girl Child to Work Day is an initiative which is targeted at girl learners, giving them the opportunity to gain first hand industry knowledge. On 29 May, the Johannesburg Site hosted 20 amazing learners from surrounding high schools to shadow the employees in the office with the aim of encouraging them to pursue careers in IT.
The employees imparted some IT knowledge and expertise to the learners as they got a chance to go to multiple departments to learn. All the girls had an amazing time, so much so that they did not want to leave the offices. Many of the girls expressed their interest in further pursuing a career in IT.
Thank you to the Department of Education (JE District), the Dell employees and the bright young learners who left feeling inspired and motivated.
