Dell celebrates Valentine’s Day with our charity partners
Dell Powering the Possible is Dell’s giving programme, designed to give others the power to do more through a combination of Dell donated technology, expertise, and employee volunteerism. The Students’ Health and Welfare Centres Organisation (SHAWCO) and the Johannesburg Institute of Social Services (JISS) are two of the beneficiaries of the Dell Powering the Possible programme. This Valentine’s Day, instead of buying roses or chocolates for Dell staff, Dell took the needs of the young women who benefit from the work that these facilities do into consideration. Dell decided to invest these funds into care packs for these young ladies.
According to Natasha Reuben, head of transformation, Dell South Africa Development Fund, “this Valentine’s Day we wanted to do something that will make a difference – after all, that’s what “Powering the Possible” is about. Dell chose to invest the funds in these young ladies, as we wanted to make sure that they felt special this Valentine’s Day. However, when we thought about roses, it seemed commercialised, we wanted give them something that will not only make them feel loved on Valentine’s Day, but something that addresses their needs. We put together care packs for each young woman consisting of the following items:
• Face cloth
• Body lotion
• Tooth brush
• Tooth Paste
• Shampoo
• Sanitary Towels
• Sweets
• Stationary
“I am proud to say that the staff at Dell has responded positively to sharing their chocolate funds with these young ladies. Part of Powering the Possible is working with global non-profit organizations so that our actions help young people discover new possibilities, change their lives, and unleash their true potential,” concludes Reuben.
