Dell South Africa, through the Dell Development Fund (DDF), is focused on developing literate and connected communities centred on quality education. The Fund invested in another brand new technology and education Partnership with The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) awarding bursaries to academically deserving students at the University.
This is the first year that Dell is providing bursaries to three students from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. Two of the students are in their final year of studies and the other a first year student. The three selected students will receive a bursary that will cover their undergraduate programmes, but they will also each receive campus residential fees and daily necessities such as meals, toiletries, travel money, pocket money, clothing and ad hoc medical fees. They will also receive books, additional tuition if required and a brand new Dell laptop.
According to Natasha Reuben, head of transformation at Dell South Africa, “It is only through improving social conditions that business conditions can be improved and education is an essential tool to drive this transformation. We don’t just provide our beneficiaries with the basic foundation to their education, but follow through on the progress of these pupils.”

The bursary programme forms an integral part of Dell’s training programmes and initiatives that aim to address the existing need to equip young adults with both life and educational skills through a combination of Dell donated technology, expertise and employee volunteerism. With the above in mind Dell employees will visit the students who received the bursaries to provide additional support. They also participate in an annual end of year function for the students sponsored and hosted by Dell. This is an opportunity for the students to meet the Dell team and celebrate their achievements for the year.
It is through this Fund that Dell helps young people discover new possibilities, change their lives, and unleash their true potential, giving them a future to look forward to.
